Update:  approximately 8 weeks post op.

Sensation in my face has mostly returned! I'd say I'm 90% back to normal regarding sensation. I've had the most unremarkable recovery, which I can't really explain other than I'm relatively young, and I eat healthfully %99 of the time.  How much of recovery is dependant on how well you look after yourself ? I don't know, but if it makes a great difference, than that would explain my lack of complications. I'm counting my lucky stars. Eating is a lot easier now, although I still can't quite muster the strength to bite into anything thick like crusty bread (baguettes...*sigh*) or sushi. But my bite strength has definitely improved. I'm sure in another 8 weeks it will be vastly improved once more.

Hi, I am a little scared as i am possible going to have jaw surgery in a few months and i am wondering if you have a plastic 'thing' in your mouth and if so, can you talk with it? How long did it take before you could go out and return to a normal life? thanks!
